Logitech StreamCam Review
1. Price of the Logitech StreamCam
Logitech StreamCam is a relatively recent addition to Logitech’s webcam range, with a release date of February 11, 2020. At £ 139, the Logitech StreamCam is in the higher segment of the market and at a higher-end in Logitech’s webcam range is available only with Logitech Brio Stream and more expensive Logitech Brio Ultra HD Pro Business Webcam.
2. Design
Weighing in at 5.3 ounces, 2.6 x 2.3 x 1.9 inches, the Logitech StreamCam is very compact. The frame is square in shape and is white or graphite resin. Both models feature a heather gray cloth around the lens and the Logitech logo on the left side of the lens. Each side of the camera has a bump for sliding it into the stand in landscape or portrait mode.
Unlike its big brother, the Brio 4K Pro, the StreamCam has a sturdy plastic stand that latches securely onto both my MacBook Pro and my BenQ XL2420TE monitor. The mounting clip can be removed and replaced with a tripod, which comes with the StreamCam Plus, but not the base model.
The only major flaw is the cable. It’s a 5-foot inline that can’t be removed, so if you’re hoping to swap it for a shorter or longer cable, you’re out of luck. It is also only available in USB Type-C. You can use the adapter to connect it to a USB Type-A 2.0 or 3.0 port, but doing so will limit your FPS to 30 from 60, which eliminates one of StreamCam’s main advantages over against the opponent.
3. Performance
If you want to record 1080p60 video, especially with lots of programs running, you’ll need a computer that can handle it. However, it only has built-in graphics and video recording starts hitting 1080p60 with Logitech Capture and OBS open.
The video shot via StreamCam looks good. Logitech Capture automatically set the correct white balance and available manual corrections allowed me to fix exposure and color issues in my low-light apartment. 1080p60 video looks sharp and smooth, and the auto-framing feature is great for keeping your face centered if you move in the frame.
StreamCam has two microphones for recording your voice in mono or stereo. The in-camera mics were functional and produced a well-balanced, clear sound in my test recordings.
If you are really serious about the fidelity of the sound in your streams, you may want to invest in a separate USB microphone and run the recording through that device, both for quality recording. best possible and suppress background noise by using cardioid tablets. StreamCam’s microphone is great, but you can make things more professional with more dedicated hardware.
4. Picture and sound quality
For such a small device, Logitech StreamCam captures excellent video. Logitech Capture software is good enough that I don’t need to make any further adjustments. All the built-in auto-adjust features keep me well-lit and in-frame as I move my head around and wave my fingers across my face. It’s not 4K, but 1080p resolution is really all you need while streaming.
StreamCam provides crisp, clear footage of my face as I use it in the local library’s sunlit office. It also works in a dark room in my apartment, illuminated only by my desktop screen and the white LED on my keyboard.
The built-in microphone isn’t great but is still quite usable. If you’re a musician, you might want to invest in a mixer and mic setup, but for gamers, high fidelity voice quality isn’t a priority. Renowned video game streamer Tyler1 has been a steadfast fan of the Logitech G430 for years, despite breaking some of them throughout his career.
If you’re a content creator then Logitech StreamCam is a solid choice, producing clear picture and sound in stereo or dual-mono mode although you may want to pair it with a separate microphone. We hope that this Logitech StreamCam review is helpful for you to choose a good webcam.
